About Rascal Children's Theater
Rascal Children's Theater was founded in the spring of 2006 by Artistic Director Dan Foss. Foss was the Managing Director of Rogue Theater Company when they moved into their Andersonville location. Seizing an opportunity, he proposed to Rogue Artistic Director Nate White that Rogue should have a children's theater...and Rascal was born!
Rascal produced five shows in its first season in Andersonville:
The Ugly Duckling - Directed by Dan Foss Cinderella Goes Disco - Directed by Dan Foss The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - Adapted and Directed by Jessica Hutchinson Rough Night at the North Pole - Directed by Kate Lindberg The Princess Who Would Not Marry - Directed by Meredith Melville
Expecting to continue with a second season at the Andersonville space, Rascal premiered Chicago playwright Barbara Lhota's new comedy The Nerdy Girl and the Intergalactic Dog, directed by Dan Foss. This successful production was to be Rascal's last show at The Rogue Theater space.
Hearing of the closure of the Andersonville location, The Side Project Artistic Director Adam Webster proposed a partnership between his company and Rascal. Rascal begins performances in the Rogers Park neighborhood beginning in the fall of 2007.
